Our programs are designed to address the interconnected challenges facing vulnerable children and families in Uganda. We implement three core programs that work together to improve education access, child protection, and household stability.
Why This Program
Many children in our operational communities struggle to remain in school due to lack of scholastic materials, unpaid school fees, and limited family income. Even small financial gaps often lead to repeated absenteeism and eventual dropout.
Objectives
Increase consistent school attendance among vulnerable children
Reduce school dropout rates
Support academic continuity and performance
Strengthen mentorship and follow-up mechanisms
Key Interventions
Provision of essential scholastic materials (books, pens, uniforms)
Partial and full school fees sponsorship for highly vulnerable children
School attendance monitoring and follow-up
Basic mentorship and motivation support
How the Program Works
Children are identified through community referrals, school partnerships, and household assessments. Priority is given to orphans, children from single-parent households, and families facing extreme economic hardship.
Support is provided on a structured basis, and regular follow-up is conducted with schools and guardians to monitor attendance and progress.
Current Impact
50+ children supported with scholastic materials
8 children receiving school fees sponsorship
Improved attendance consistency among supported beneficiaries
Reduced dropout risk within targeted households
Ongoing Challenges
High number of children still needing sponsorship (400+ identified)
Rising school-related costs
Limited resources to expand support coverage
Why This Program
Some children face neglect, abandonment, or unsafe living conditions that directly threaten their wellbeing and education. Stable shelter and consistent care are essential foundations for child development.
Objectives
Provide safe accommodation for vulnerable children
Ensure access to basic nutrition and healthcare
Restore stability and emotional security
Promote reintegration where appropriate
Core Services
Safe and structured accommodation
Daily meals and nutrition support
Basic healthcare access and referrals
Clothing and essential supplies
Psychosocial guidance and mentorship
How the Program Works
Children are admitted through community referrals and vulnerability assessments. The program provides structured daily routines, supervision, and access to education.
Where possible, family tracing and reunification efforts are explored to ensure long-term stability in a safe environment.
Current Impact
20 children provided with shelter and consistent care
Improved physical wellbeing and school participation
Stabilized living conditions for highly vulnerable children
Ongoing Challenges
Limited infrastructure capacity
Need for expanded safe housing facilities
Increasing demand for residential support
Why This Program
Child welfare cannot be sustained without strengthening families and community systems. Economic instability remains one of the primary drivers of school dropout and child vulnerability.
Objectives
Improve household economic stability
Empower families, women, and persons with disabilities
Promote community responsibility for child welfare
Encourage sustainable income-generating practices
Key Interventions
Targeted household support for extremely vulnerable families
Promotion of agriculture and livestock activities for income generation
Formation of savings and credit groups (SACCOs)
Community awareness sessions on child welfare
Collaboration with local leaders and schools
Advocacy for education access
How the Program Works
Families are identified through vulnerability assessments and community engagement. Support focuses on practical, small-scale economic empowerment activities that improve income stability over time.
Community meetings and collaboration with local leadership strengthen collective responsibility for protecting children.
Current Impact
Improved household stability among supported families
Increased community awareness on education and child protection
Strengthened savings culture through local savings groups
Ongoing Challenges
Limited capital to expand economic empowerment initiatives
Environmental and seasonal risks affecting agriculture
High demand for livelihood support
We work closely with local leaders, schools, and community members to identify vulnerable children and families.
Basic beneficiary tracking systems
Regular follow-up visits
Collaboration with guardians and school administrators
